Photographs and Memories

Photographs of our choruses help us to preserve our memories, document our history, share our stories and connect us to one another. Photographs also help us express our creativity and inspire us to embrace our individuality when we sing.

We started January 2025 off with an incredible two-day coaching session led by Erin Howden.  She then challenged us, teased us, frowned at us, laughed with (and at) us, and at times, literally squealed and jumped for joy as we responded positively to what she was teaching us.

We needed pictures!

Here are five tips that will help you create outstanding photos of your chorus events:

1) Know your camera. Cell phone cameras are getting better and better!  There are lots of useful tutorials on YouTube.

2) Be aware of your lighting.  It determines if the picture is excellent or mediocre.

3) Become an avid people watcher. Keep an eye out for the memorable events and be ready for the unexpected ones.

4) Experiment. Horizontal or vertical? Shoot from all different angles. Zoom in and get the faces, expressions and emotions. Don’t be afraid to tell people what to do to get the best picture.

5) Take lots of pictures. Keep the best and throw away the rest.
